If you live in the southern hemisphere like me, its likely that you wont be drinking hot chocolate this time of the year. But sometimes, I do feel like a little something after dinner and a hot chock is a good way to satisfy that craving. Both versions below are made from clean ingredients and healthy. Please try these next time you feel like something a little sweet and let me know what you think.
Both versions serve 2
Quick version
2 cups unsweetened oat milk (or your choice of plant milk or dairy milk)
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
Maple syrup to taste
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch sea salt optional
Coconut whipped cream (optional, for serving)
Mix the first 5 ingredients together and heat in pan until bubbling. Top with coconut cream
Longer version
1/2 cup raw cashews soaked for a few hours
2 cups water
Maple syrup to taste maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch sea salt optional
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
Add the above ingredients in a high speed blender until smooth and creamy, then heat in a pan until bubbling. You could also replace the maple syrup with a couple of medjool dates.
Enjoy :)
