Nutty chia berry bowl

One of my favourite breakfasts, I've removed all presence of oats and replaced with ground nuts. I love the texture of ground nuts, and it makes this bowl rich and delicious. Ive chosen Macadamia nuts for this recipe as they are native to Australia 😊, low in carbs and they are incredibly nutritious. Check this list out:

Despite being rich in calories, macadamia nuts may help lose weight. This may be partly explained by their amounts of protein and fiber, two nutrients known to reduce hunger and promote feelings of fullness. This is good news to me and I do feel fuller for longer after eating this bowl as opposed to eating a bowl of oats, where I feel hungry soon after.

Let's dive into the recipe.

Ingredients (makes 1 serve):

  • 50-100 mL Nut Milk

  • 2 Tbsp ground macadamia nuts

  • 2 Tbsp ground walnuts

  • 2 Tbsp chia seeds

  • 1 tsp ground flaxseed

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/2 cup raspberries (or any fruit of your choice)

  • 2 Tbsp pomegranate juice

  • Strawberries to top

Method 1

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth and creamy.

Method 2

Pre grind the nuts. I like to keep some chunks here.

Add ground nuts to a bowl, then add all other ingredients, stir until smooth. Leave for a few minutes for the chia to absorb some of the liquid. This is my preferred method.

Notes

Sometimes I will swap out the nut milk and replace with 2 tbsp Greek yoghurt.

You need to use non-dairy milk with this recipe, otherwise the pomegranate juice will curdle the dairy milk.
